Ismaël urban dancer reveals his atypical background and his confrontation with diverse cultures
Choreographed by Ismaël Mouaraki, this new solo performance is, in a way, an autobiographical portrait. Uniting multiple dancing and musical styles, the spectator is witness to a most intimate choreographic representation with the use of live video projections to portray a very personal choreographic portrait. Ismaël reveals his atypical background and his confrontation with diverse cultures.

A Malaysian Fusion ASWARA Dance Company,
National Dept. for Culture and Arts Cultural Group
A Malaysian Fusion
A fusion of contemporary and traditional elements, melting in one pot; truly Malaysia.
The performance entitled A Malaysian Fusion is a smorgasbord of several short contemporary works that depart from various traditional forms and vocabulary performed by two of Malaysia's leading companies The National Department of Culture and Arts Dancers and ASWARA Dance Company. These works encompass the uniqueness of Malaysia contemporary dance explorations that are rooted in its traditional forms. Using these traditional idioms as a point of embarkation, and infusing the phrases with contemporary dance techniques, has given these Malaysian works a unique “rasa” or tastev that celebrates its multiple identities and cultural heritage.

Strangely Familiar Disasters Thomas Noone Dance, Strangely Familiar Disasters
Mundane places, disastrous circumstance, strangely familiar
On stage a couple and a solitary musician, dance out their emotions. Sharing a feeling of imminent disaster they tell their story using a dynamic, explosive and intensely emotive movement vocabulary. Composer-musician Jim Pinchen accompanies them live on stage, weaving a soundtrack from his many instruments and his own voice. Lugares as a work centres on those situations that inevitably draw us towards chaos, yet it is not a melancholic work, but a dynamic and high octane dance piece laced with characteristic irony. www.thomasnoonedance.com

Like an Olive Tree DFT(Dance Forum Taipei), Like an Olive Tree
If I could live again I would begin to walk barefoot in the early spring and remain so until the end of autumn... if I would have another life ahead. But you see, I am 85 years and I know I’m dying.
Jorge Luis Borges
Like an Olive Tree was inspired by an old Spanish madam writer’s interview. Marina transforms the story of an old lady caught up in World War Ⅱ. It’s rarely seen in choreography that the story line/text are revealed first, and the choreography follows this pattern. The actual characters, clear time lines, and pure body languages make it vividly real. The story accompanied by female vocal, harmonizes with dance as a rather fascinating rhythm for this life-long story.
